Between the end of the Napoleonic wars and the beginning of World War I, there were slightly over 99 years; in the interim, both Europe and North America had seen a host of 'minor' wars. But only 21 years (slightly less, actually) between the First &amp; Second World Wars. But then, another long gap between 'major' wars: 46 years between the end of World War 2, and the beginning of the Gulf War, involving most of the technologically developed nations of the world. Which of course, leads to the whole question of sociological development vs. technological development.</summary>
